Most shark vacuums are accessorized with a line at the top to indicate the maximum amount of dirt that they can take before they need to be emptied.
The bar is labeled as ‘Max’ or ‘Max Fill.’ However, we advise people to open their dirt cup when half full or when a little bit over the half top mark.
How to Empty a Shark Navigator Vacuum Cup
Like I said above, there is no need to wait until the cup reaches the max level to open it. There is a reason why we are insisting on this.
The more dirt accumulated in the cup, the lesser the vacuum’s suction power. It is very much likely mainly if you frequently use your vacuum.
If you notice strange noises or foul odors coming from the vacuum, then this is the right time to empty the cup, regardless of the level.
Sometimes, the dirt cup will need to be taken out and washed together with other parts, such as the brush rolls or the filter.
